Spa Filter And Cleaning

If you have a hot tub spa in your home, you know how important it is to you. The moments you can spend there are great times of relaxation and stress relief, and this is why spas are so important to the people who use them. To keep it running smoothly, we need to maintain it and take good care of it. And the best way to do that is to fix all those little problems that arise and clean it from time to time. And when it comes to cleaning, spa filters take special place in the whole game.

A spa filter is important part of the entire hot tub spa. It’s main role is to keep the hot water clean by keeping all the natural substances and other debris away. But, they can’t do this forever since they get used up in a quick manner. At that point, they need someone to take care of them, and that person is you.

I’m going to provide you with few short guidelines on how to keep your spa filter working properly. And remember one thing, throw away a filter if its fabric becomes stringy and starts to fray. There is no cleaning that can help him in that situation, and it is best to buy a new one.

First, rinse your filter with clean water every 7 days. Designate a day that you will remember and keep doing it on time. It is a good habit that will keep the debris from piling in your spa filter. Because if it does, the chemicals will eat up all the fabric and you will have to buy new one. So, in order to save money, make sure you do this regularly.

Second thing, every 30 days you need to take out your hot tub filter and use a degreaser or some sort of a cleaner. Spray it entirely and let that chemical work for a while, for about 10 to 20 minutes. It needs some time to eat up all the dirt, so after 20 minutes, you can use water to wash it and return it to place.

Third important thing, you have to soak your hot tub filters in a muriatic acid solution every 6 months. You can call a pool company to do this for you, but you can save money by buying this acid by yourself. Any pool store should have one, or you can order it online. You will dilute the acid with water, in 1:3 ration and then soak the filters in that solution. When you wake up the next day, rinse them with water and they will be ready for use again.

A good thing to do is to buy two spa filters so you can use your hot tub with other one while you are washing the first. You will have to buy new one some day, so it is not a bad idea to have two of them right away.
