Basics to Plumbing a Basement Bathroom
If you are remodeling your bathroom or simply adding a new one into your basement, you have to make sure to consider all the plumbing connected things to be done. Plumbing must be taken seriously to avoid further damages and problems that might occur if the pipes are not installed the right way. Plumbing a basement bathroom can be difficult if you lack the skill. If you think you don’t have enough knowledge in handing this activity, it is advisable to hire a skilled worker that specializes in the field of plumbing to make sure that everything will be done right.
First step in plumbing a basement bathroom is by putting a mark on the fixtures that you will include in your bathroom. It will be better if you will sketch it first on a piece of paper to work out the proper location and mark it using a chalk. Usually a jack hammer is used to jab the concrete floor after the marks are made. One must give extra care upon doing this, however, since accidents might occur. Once the floor is already open, you can get the previous pipes and change it with the new ones. Once the entire pipe system is already on its proper place the floor must be covered again by concrete.
However there are houses with the main drain located above the floor level. If this is the case, you have to use a special type of toilet so that you can remove the waste and send it to the main drain above. A sump and sump ejector system uses a basin that can be located underneath the toilet or beside the flush which means that you don’t have to jab the floor any longer. The tank will treat the waste before it sends the material to the main drain so this is also a more hygienic option.
