While the overall cost does depend on factors like the geographical location and area of the body to be treated, the different fee categories are affected relative to these factors. Many advertisements will quote just the surgeon’s fee which is simply what the plastic surgeon will charge for their time and effort. The other two fees include the anesthesia fee and facility or overhead fee.

The most important thing to keep in mind when shopping for a laser liposuction surgeon is that the decision should not be based solely on who offers the lowest price. Many patients of laser lipolysis have put themselves at risk just by selecting a surgeon who might be under qualified to perform the procedure. A board certified plastic surgeon will have undergone rigorous training and examinations to earn their certifications. It is important to ask for credentials when meeting with and evaluating the different surgeons during the research and shopping process.

Other fees include the cost of using anesthesia for sedation or numbing the area to be treated. Larger procedures will require more of the drug while smaller procedure will consume less which will cost less. If the amount of the drug is large enough to require an anesthesiologist to administer then the patient will be billed for the time and service of the anesthesiologist as well.

The facility cost or overhead cost is also sometimes known as the hospital fee. This charge covers just about anything else besides the surgeon fee and anesthesia fee. The use of the surgery room and equipment are the biggest charges in this category but it also includes many of the miscellaneous charges incurred before, during and after the surgical procedure.
