Portable Cat Kennel

When you first decide to buy a new cat one of the first pet accessories that you will need to buy is a portable cat kennel.  You will get plenty of use out of it over the lifetime of your cat so do some research before jumping in and buying one.

Portable cat kennels can be made from plastic, or canvas stretched over a frame.  The plastic kennels are more durable and easier to clean as you can simply hose them out and then wipe them with anti-bacterial cleaner.  They generally have a wire gate on the front, which can be removed entirely to allow you to easily get the cat in and out of it.  They have plenty of ventilation slats along the sides and top so that your cat can see out and get some fresh air.  As well as needing one of these to bring your new kitten home with you, it will be vital from transportation to and from the vets when she is in need of a bit of cat care, such as when it is time for her annual jabs or if she is ill. From personal experience I’ll tell you that this is a great thing to have. When I had to transport my cat to cat hospital of Portland, a portable plastic kennel is what I used.

The canvas kennels are made to be fully collapsible and tend to be used by people who like to show their cats.  They often have dividers which can be added or removed to allow the possibility of housing more than one cat and the luxury varieties have slings hanging from the roof for the cat to lie in!  The advantage over a plastic kennel is that it can be folded away and so takes up very little space in your house when it is not in use.

Some people even use them in the same way dog owners use a dog kennel, to give their cat somewhere to rest and sleep in a secure environment.  Being portable you can move it from the house to outside if you are going to be out during the day.
