Refrigerator Pickles – Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
You’ve probably seen a lot of refrigerator pickle recipes and products available near you but what you may have failed to realize is that you can actually make them on your own. Pickling cucumbers is as easy as one to three, and even the ingredients that you will need just to do it wouldn’t have to be so complicated to find. There will be no sweat for a simple stuff like pickled cucumber – anyone, even those who considered themselves to be flukes in cooking would be able to testify how easy is this.
The most usual process when it comes to refrigerator pickles requires you nothing but fresh and crisp cucumbers, and the rest of the ingredients are easy to find. First things first – you need to find cucumbers that aren’t overripe so that the crisp quality that is expected in pickled refrigerators will remain the same. Boil one cup of distilled vinegar and 2 cups of white sugar in a medium saucepan, adding a 1 tablespoon of salt to stabilize the taste. By the 10th minutes, the sugar will be dissolved completely, and now you have your vinegar solution.
In another bowl, mixed 6 cups of sliced cucumbers, one cup sliced onions and one cup sliced of green bell peppers. Pour the vinegar solution on this vegetable mix and you now have your pickled cucumbers in its rawest form.
There’s a common denominator among all the refrigerator pickles recipes. But if you want a slight variation to the usual recipe, then you can add some fresh chopped dills to enhance the flavor. Dills may look insignificant on the outset but they truly make a difference in the overall appeal of refrigerator pickles.
The best way to store your pickled cucumbers is to store them inside a glass lid. Pickled cucumbers, however varied in their recipe styles, can last up to 10 months or so provided that you can secure proper storage settings.
