Oval Rugs For The Hall

Tag: Homeadmin @ 8:37 am

There are some beautiful oval rugs around in all kinds of colors and styles to suit any home. As the oval shape is a little different from a normal rectangular shaped rug, they are quite distinctive compared to run of the mill rugs and will enhance many rooms in your home.

However, if you are looking for a new rug for your hall, then you may need to think twice about looking for oval rugs, no matter how well they go with the color scheme and style you have in mind there. Although these rugs are beautiful, they are generally not right for a hall, at least not every hall. It does depend on the shape of the space.

Most halls are long and narrow with several doors leading from the area. Although an oval rug is longer along one side than the other, the proportions are quite different from a typical long hall. The rug would therefore not look right if you put it in a long narrow hall even if it it fits, as the edges of the rug would seem as if they are too close to the long hall walls. For a long narrow hall, you need a runner rug as that is exactly the right shape to look in proportion.

If your hall is more boxy in shape, you can use either a round or an oval rug. For a square shaped hall space, a round rug is best as that will sit nicely in the center and show off the shape of your hall nicely. You can use an oval rug in your hall, however, and it will look great if your hall is a more open rectangular shape. In a space like that an oval rug will become a focal point for anyone entering your home and will add a note of welcome as well as add the note of distinction you are looking for.
